This recipe has subtitles in both Turkish and English
Welcome to Mutevazi Lezzetler video pages!
at this episode we are sharing a honoring recipe
it is a cookie recipe
"Rectangular Biscuits with Walnut"
let’s see the ingredients list at first…
then we will see how to cook it
1 cup of corn starch
1 + 1/2 cups of castor sugar
2 tbsp cocoa
2 eggs
1 pack of margarine or butter (8.8 oz)
1 pack of vanilla
1 pack of baking powder
1 pinch of salt
and sifted flour, as much as the mixture gets in
"for the upper side; 1 tablespoonful coconut"
6 - 7 diced dried apricots
and 1 cup of thickly beaten walnut
I’m beginning by breaking the eggs
I’ve 2 eggs, the eggs must be washed
I’ve 1 pack of margarine, equal to 8.8 oz...
it is softened at room temperature
1 cup of castor sugar
after adding the castor sugar…
I’m mixing it by fingertips
yes, as you can see it is homogenous now
I’ve 1 cup of corn starch
I’m adding it also, I’m especially using the starch of the corn…
because, the wheat starch makes the cookies harder
I’m adding 2 tbsp of cocoa
I’m adding the vanilla also
I’ve added the cocoa before the flour, by this way it lays homogenously in the mixture
and gives its color properly
it has given its color in a nice way
now I’m adding 1 pinch of salt…
salt increases the taste of the sweet products
sifted flour, as much as the mixture gets in
I’m adding it also
I’ve placed the baking powder over the flour…
to prevent it from touching to the mixture directly
I’ll be kneading the mixture by adding flour little by little in it…
until it stops to stick my hands, but it must not be too hard
this is the consistency that we want to reach
I’ll rest the dough for about 10 minutes after covering it
I’ve rested it for a short time, now it is time to shape it
it may soften while it is resting
especially at hot weather
I may add some flour and knead it again
the consistency of the dough is ideal now
now, I’ll roll it out, until it reaches to the size of the baking tray
after rolling it for a while, then I will shape it by fingertips to make it reach tray size
ok, it is enough, I may shape it in the tray from now on
I’m placing it into the greased baking tray
I’m shaping it by fingertips, it will take the shape of the tray
I’ve placed the dough into the tray firmly
I have 1 cup of thickly beaten walnut as an upper side ingredient
firstly, I’m sprinkling it all over
beating it thickly, pleases you while eating these cookies
but, you can beat it more thinly also
I have some dried apricots also, I’m sprinkling them all over also
you can use chocolate pieces instead
even, you can use granulated sugar, if you like that crispy feeling while eating cookies
as you know, there is no limits at recipes!
finally I have coconut
I’m sprinkling it also
I’m laying those heaps all over homogenously
it seems delicious already now
I’m forcing over this layer to make those ingredients…
stay together with the dough
you can use a small rolling pin for this process also
after laying all the upper side ingredients by this way…
I’m slicing it into rectangular shaped pieces
if you come across to walnut pieces, they may affect the smooth shape of your pieces
I’m keeping on cutting it now…
that goes without saying, you may use a knife
in a very short time, we have prepared very stylish biscuits
and delicious needless to say
Mütevazı Lezzetler never negotiates about flavor
now I’m placing the tray into the oven that is preheated to 374 F for a long time, it is really hot now
I’ll bake them for just 10 minutes
then I’ll remove them from the oven
the biscuits are removed from the oven, I’ve rested them for 20 minutes to solidify and cool them down
they seem great
and they are delicious
