Cake with Fig
Sincere greetings from our cuisine!
at this episode, we are sharing a recipe from the 292. page of our
Mutevazi Lezzetler Turkish Cuisine and World Cuisine book
"Cake with Fig"
it is very common and classical, but we are also baking it very often
before the preparing, let’s see the ingredients list
then we will see how to…
2 cups of flour
2 eggs
3/4 cup of castor sugar
1/3 cup of sunflower oil
1 cup of milk
4 - 5 figs
1 pack of baking powder
and 1/2 tsp cinnamon
there are too many methods for baking this cake
in our way, we are starting to preparations 1 night ago
we are dicing the figs
and adding 1 cup of milk on these pieces
refrigerating it for a night and using them the next day
by this way the fig pieces soften
and become more delicious
I’m putting it aside and starting to prepare the mixture
I’m braking the 2 egg
into a bowl
I’m adding 3/4 cup of castor or granulated sugar on it
we are using castor sugar, because it dissolves easier
but you may use granulated sugar in the equal measurement
now I’m mixing it for about 3 – 4 minutes
I’ve mixed it, until the mixture of eggs and castor sugar turn into white totally
now I may add the remaining ingredients on it
I’m adding 1/3 cup of vegetable oil
I’m adding the milky fig mixture that I’ve prepared it 1 night ago
I’m mixing it for a while to make the fig pieces lay in the mixture homogenously
that is enough
I’m adding 2 cups of sifted flour
I’m adding the 1 pack of baking powder on the flour carefully
if it touches the liquid directly, as I’ve mentioned at the previous videos, it becomes bitter
and I’m adding 1/2 tsp of cinnamon
after adding it also, I’m beating the mixture until it turns into homogenous
there is no need to mix it too much, after adding the flour
I’ve collected the mixture at the edges of the bowl
that is enough, I’ll pour it into the greased mould
this is proper for this cake, it is well greased
well, I’m pouring the mixture in it
the consistency of the mixture is excellent
I’ve poured the fig cake mixture into the greased mould
I’ll be baking it in the preheated oven for about 45 minutes…
the temperature will be 347 F
the cake is removed from the oven, it has grown perfectly
I’m reversing it over the service plate now
after cooling it for a while, I may slice and serve it
